Deck and Fence Staining Services in Sioux Falls, SD.

The Importance of Staining Your Wooden Deck or Fence

In Sioux Falls, staining wood decks and fences is crucial for preserving their integrity in the face of our region’s diverse weather conditions, ranging from hot summers to cold winters. Our staining process protects against moisture, UV rays, and extreme temperature fluctuations, ensuring prolonged longevity and preventing rot and decay.

Additionally, staining enhances the aesthetic appeal of outdoor wooden structures, maintaining their natural beauty while reducing maintenance efforts and repair costs in the long run.

Stain acts as a protective layer, safeguarding wood from weather elements, moisture, UV rays, and pests. It prevents rot, decay, and warping, extending the lifespan of the wood.

Staining amplifies the natural beauty of the wood, highlighting the grain and texture while adding depth and color to the surface. It brings out the richness of the wood and creates a finished appearance that complements the overall outdoor space.

A quality stain includes mildewcides that inhibit the growth of mold and mildew, keeping the surface clean and minimizing maintenance efforts.

Regular staining helps avoid costly repairs or premature replacements by extending the life of the deck or fence, reducing the need for repairs or replacements.

I am simply blown away by the quality and professionalism of Scholten Construction! Drew was incredibly responsive and very easy to communicate with. His crew brought my vision to life in a way I didn’t even think would be possible. They had such a detail for craftsmanship, kept the work site very clean, communicated regularly, and were genuinely good guys. Our deck design was challenging but they took it on like absolute professionals. Would absolutely recommend and will be using them again for future construction needs.
Response from the owner:Thank you so much for the 5 star review Rachel! Honestly, we enjoyed the challenge! It was a pleasure working with you and we hope you enjoy your beautiful deck for years to come!!!

I contracted to get a new concrete patio, sidewalks and replacement of the existing driveway. The crew was easy to work with, respectful and listened to me when I spotted the patio slab was being mapped out incorrectly. They quickly corrected the concrete forms to bring it back to what I requested. The driveway was widened with even more expansion in front of the garage.
Response from the owner:Thank you for the 5 star review Tammy! Enjoy the new driveway and concrete patio!

We had our house resided, painted, gutters installed, and two decks replaced. The residing crew did an amazing job. They were fast, courteous, and extremely hard working. I would hire them again without hesitation. The deck crew built two absolutely beautiful decks. They went above and beyond. I have to make special mention of Jordan of the painting crew. I have a walk-out ranch making the deck high and it is under an overhanging roof, originally built in 1999. I put the replacement project out to bid with 6 bidders responding. Drew came over and he made suggestions for best practices and it was clear he knew what he was doing. Even though Scholten wasn't the low bid, we went with them to replace our deck because of their knowledge and approach. For clarity, they were substantially less than most of the bids we received. Their construction team was fantastic, cleaning up every night, happy to answer any questions and put in some long hot hours with a smile ...at least when I was there. Very happy with the outcome based on their suggestions. The details like the framing show they care about the outcome. Drew came out for the final face to face inspection which says a lot about their service as well. Highly recommended! I attached a few pics of the before and after.
Response from the owner:Awesome! Thank you for the 5 star review as well as posting before and afters! We appreciate your business and hope you enjoy your new deck!

Drew and his crew did an amazing job building our deck! Drew came to our house to give us an estimate the same day I called (which seems to be rare) and gave us a very fair estimate. He booked us in the schedule and kept us informed on the timeline per request. I had requested a few changes before they started and even one the day of and they were so gracious to transition with no issues. The four guys that built our deck were very respectful, knowledgeable and efficient. I would recommend this company to everybody!
Response from the owner:Thank you for the awesome review Trisha! It was a pleasure working with you! Enjoy your new deck!

Scholten Construction did a great job on my roof. The supplies were dropped off the night before and the roof was completed in 1 day. Not a single scrap or nail in my yard when finished. The employees were professional and friendly. I had several bids and they were several thousand less than the next closest. I will refer them to my friends.
Response from the owner:Thank you for the review Patrick! It was a pleasure working with you! Enjoy the new roof! 👍

Tim Scholten helped me out this year with building our home. Tim was a HUGE help through the process of getting everything moving and the foundation done for the modular we had moved on site. When it came time to place the modular we found we couldn't say things went as well with Tad Fiegen and Western Housing. However Tim stepped in even though he didn't have to help us. He cared enough to see it through and make sure that things were finished. None of those problems were things Tim needed to be involved in! Tim was willing to step in and help with problems and unforeseen issues with Western. Tim cares. He was on site checking with his subs and talking with us making sure we got great service from his team. I will scream to the hills that Tim Sholten is amazing. I would work with the Scholten Construction crew any day of the week.
Response from the owner:Thank you for the awesome review Jason! We are happy that we could help! Enjoy making memories in your new home!
